A B Graphic International (ABG) has expanded its finishing and converting portfolio with the launch of its Integrated Nonstop Unwind. The new product is a compact, high-performance solution designed to help label converters maximize uptime, efficiency and automation.

The Integrated Nonstop Unwind enables continuous production for either blank web converting or pre-printed material converting, delivering splice registration accuracy of ±2mm. Built around ABG’s established unwinder and butt-splicer sub-assemblies, the system is based on proven, tried-and-tested technology. It provides reliability, confidence, and ease of integration for converters, the company states.

Simplifying operations

Fully integrated into the converter’s control platform, the solution simplifies operation. Meanwhile, it also delivers a significantly reduced footprint, saving over three meters of floor space compared to a conventional standalone nonstop unit. This makes it particularly attractive for converters looking to increase productivity without expanding their production area.

Designed for flexibility, the Integrated Nonstop Unwind can be used on Digicon Series and ABG Converters running 330, 440 and 540mm web widths. Meanwhile, wider-web compatibility is currently under evaluation. When paired with a Vectra turret rewinder, it creates a powerful nonstop configuration that allows converters to maintain peak efficiency with minimal interruption.

Matrix Turret launch

Building on ABG’s expertise in automated matrix stripping, the company will also launch a Matrix Turret that incorporates its Automated Matrix Stripping (AMS) device. This key innovation enables true non-stop operation without the need for a separate extraction system. Featuring its own integrated face cutting station, the Matrix Turret can cut cleanly on any substrate and automatically performs a roll change once the rewind roll is full, allowing production to continue without interruption.

By combining nonstop unwinding, automated matrix stripping and automated roll changeover, converters can achieve longer, more stable production runs with higher overall equipment effectiveness and smoother workflow.

“Converters are under increasing pressure to do more with fewer operators while still maintaining output and quality,” says Matt Burton, global sales director, ABG. “The Integrated Nonstop Unwind has been developed using proven ABG technology and, when combined with our automation and matrix stripping solutions, allows customers to run for longer without interruption. It’s a practical solution that improves efficiency, reduces operator involvement, and helps converters get the most from their finishing lines.”
